Kathmandu. A federal appeals court has ruled that President Donald Trump’s administration cannot deploy the National Guard in Illinois.
The Seventh Circuit Bench of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago also ruled that the force could remain under federal control for the time being. The decision partially upholds a lower court order halting the deployment of the National Guard to the Chicago area.
The court said such deployments could “fuel civil unrest” and “add fuel to the fire”. Trump has already deployed the National Guard to Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Democratic-led cities like Portland, Oregon.
