Kathmandu. Insurance claims worth Rs 23.25 billion have been received so far from the riots during the Genji agitation.
According to the Insurance Authority of Nepal (NIA), claims worth Rs 23.22 billion have been received from 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro life insurance companies as of October 7. This is a total of 3,099 claims. Out of this, insurance companies have so far paid Rs 1.58 billion.
According to the authority, the highest claim amount has been towards property insurance. In the property insurance category, companies have to pay Rs 19.06 billion for 653 claims. Out of which the companies have paid Rs 1.32 billion.
Similarly, the second claim amount has gone towards motor insurance. The companies have to pay Rs 3.41 billion for 2,206 claims towards motor insurance. Out of which the companies have paid Rs 24.91 crore.
Similarly, the companies have to pay Rs 380.3 million for engineering and contract risk insurance, Rs 16.3 million for 12 claims for transport insurance and Rs 353.37 million for 38 claims for other insurance. Out of this, the companies have paid Rs 87.29 lakh towards engineering and contract risk insurance and Rs 5.49 lakh towards other insurance.
