Kathmandu. Insurance companies have so far paid more than Rs 1.5 billion in claims for property damaged by the riots during the Genji agitation.
As per the details made public by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA), 14 non-life insurance companies and 4 micro insurance companies have paid Rs 1.58 billion in advance claims. So far, these 18 companies have to pay Rs 23.22 billion for 3,099 claims.
Siddhartha Premier Insurance has claimed the highest amount. The company has to pay Rs 5.61 billion for 391 claims. The company has so far paid Rs 59.44 crore.
Similarly, Oriental Insurance has claimed the second highest amount. The company has to pay Rs 5.24 billion for 97 claims. So far, the company has paid only Rs 5,70,000.
Similarly, IGI Prudential Insurance has to pay Rs 2.75 billion for 204 claims, Shikhar Insurance Rs 2.40 billion for 431 claims, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Rs 1.60 billion for 334 claims, Neco Insurance Rs 1.15 billion for 256 claims and Himalayan Everest Insurance Rs 1.04 billion for 289 claims. IGI Prudential Insurance has paid Rs 30.43 crore, Shikhar Insurance Rs 31.94 crore, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Rs 8.6 million, Neco Insurance Rs 7 crore and Himalayan Everest Insurance Rs 21.64 million.
