Kathmandu. WhatsApp is working on a new feature. After this feature goes live, users will no longer need a mobile number to use WhatsApp. This means that users will be able to use WhatsApp without a phone number. Currently, you need a mobile number to open a WhatsApp account.

Since the launch of WhatsApp in 2009, users need to log in with their mobile number to use WhatsApp. Now Meta wants to change this login process. Like Telegram, the company wants to add a username login method to WhatsApp.

This feature was recently shown. WABetaInfo has seen WhatsApp testing this feature in the Android beta version. However, this is not the first time that the username feature has been introduced in WhatsApp. This feature has previously appeared in beta versions.

There are some requirements for using a username. For example, it shouldn’t start with ‘WWW’. This will avoid confusion with the website. Each username must contain at least one character. Users will be able to create usernames in lowercase letters ranging from ‘A’ to ‘Z’.

In addition to alphanumerics, users will also be able to use numbers and special symbols. This feature appeared in WhatsApp Android beta 2.25.28.12. Where the username reservation option is available in the settings. This will allow users to protect their usernames before the feature rollout.

However, this feature does not currently provide access to all services. Users will be able to lock only their name using the reservation. It is not possible to send a message.

The company tests the feature in beta versions before rolling it out to a stable version. Since the username reservation feature is currently only available in beta, it may take some time to be released. It is not known when this feature will be released.
