Genji Movement: Claims of Damaged Insured Property, Rs. 23.39 billion

Kathmandu. Insurance claims for insured properties damaged by arson and vandalism during the Genji agitation are on the rise.

According to the data released by the Nepal Insurance Authority (NEA), 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurance companies have claimed more than Rs 23.39 billion in damages caused by arson and vandalism during the agitation on September 7 and 24. This amount is from 2,988 claims received by the companies.

Siddhartha Premiere has claimed the highest amount. According to the data, the company has to pay Rs 5.45 billion for 307 claims.

The second highest amount has been claimed by Oriental Insurance. The company has to pay Rs 5.23 billion for 86 claims.

Similarly, IGI Prudential has to pay Rs 2.79 billion as insurance claims. The company has 196 claims.

Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has collected Rs 1.57 billion, Himalayan Everest Insurance Rs 1.23 billion and Neco Insurance Rs 1.12 billion. According to the data, Shikhar Insurance has 397 claims, Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance has 322 claims, Himalayan Everest Insurance has 261 claims and Neco Insurance has 229 claims.

According to NEA, National Insurance has claimed Rs 90.68 crore, Sanima GIC Insurance Rs 84.44 crore, United Ajod Insurance Rs 532 million, NLG Insurance Rs 510 million, Nepal Insurance Rs 480.2 million, Prabhu Insurance Rs 20.49 crore and National Insurance Rs 6.89 crore.

Similarly, Protective Micro has claimed Rs 1.15 crore, Star Micro Rs 72.38 lakh, Trust Micro Rs 44 lakh and Nepal Micro Rs 41.50 lakh.

Regionally

Regionally, property insurance has the highest number of claims. In the property insurance category, the companies have to pay Rs 19.03 billion for 594 claims.

Similarly, the companies have to pay Rs 3.65 billion for 2,209 claims for motor insurance, Rs 347.2 million for 144 claims for engineering and contractor claims, Rs 346.6 million for 30 claims for other insurance claims and Rs 15.5 million for 11 claims for transport insurance.
