Supreme Court halts all services except habeas corpus

Kathmandu. All services except the most essential ones will remain closed at the Supreme Court.

Issuing a notice today, the Supreme Court informed about this. “We request all concerned, including the parties to the case, to come in contact within the mentioned time limit only after this court issues a notice regarding the regular service delivery in the case of habeas corpus and other services except essential services,” reads the notice g. ’

On September 24, there was arson, stone-pelting, vandalism and looting of the Supreme Court during the Jenji movement. Most of the physical infrastructures of the court, bench, ongoing cases and records, and information technology system have also been damaged. “At present, the regular functions of the court have been disrupted,” the notice reads, adding, “In this dire situation, the application for habeas corpus has been registered and heard on September 29 for the protection of civil rights.” ’

It has been clarified in the notice that the court can be extended for 30 days from the date of regular operation.
