Sushila Karki sworn in as first woman prime minister

Kathmandu. Former Chief Justice Sushila Karki has been sworn in as the first woman Prime Minister of Nepal after President Ram Chandra Poudel gave his consent to dissolve the Constituent Assembly.

As per the agreement reached between the delegates and the President on Friday evening, the President has agreed to declare a state of emergency and appoint Sushila Karki as the caretaker Prime Minister after the dissolution of Parliament.

Karki, who has already held the record of being the first woman Chief Justice, will also be the first woman Prime Minister in the history of Nepal.

Gen Z representatives said the president’s office had begun preparations for his swearing-in at 9:15 p.m.

In the meantime, it is reported that a three-member cabinet will be formed initially. Kulman Ghising and Om Prakash Aryal will also be given the responsibility of ministers.
