Kathmandu. Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) chairman Hemanta Basyal has said that his main plan is to make NEPSE an international market operator.
Talking to Insurance Khabar, newly appointed Chairman Basyal said that NEPSE would be made a commercial and competitive market operator. “My effort is to make NEPSE an international level body,” he said.
Chairman Basyal said that making NEPSE professional and competitive will protect the investors as well as investment security. Asked if the government was preparing to introduce a new stock exchange, Basyal said, “It doesn’t matter if another stock exchange comes after making NEPSE competitive.” ’
Basyal said that after assuming the post of NEPSE, the remaining and necessary policy issues will be studied on priority basis and forwarded. “I hope to get full cooperation and support from my friends of NEPSE,” he said.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Friday appointed Basyal as the chairman of NEPSE. Nepse had been without a chairman for nearly four months.
Basyal has already received the appointment letter from the Finance Ministry. Basyal will take over as chairman of NEPSE from Monday. Basyal is a former executive officer of NRN Infrastructure and Development Company.
