Insured families who have not renewed health insurance will not be charged any more till September

Kathmandu. The government has provided relief to the insured families who have not renewed the health insurance.

The Health Insurance Board has made a provision in the health insurance program that all the insured who have renewed health insurance in the past will not be charged an additional fee for one time if they renew the insurance by mid-October. Issuing a notice today, the Board has also requested to renew the mandatory health insurance through the online system (e-Sewa, Connect IPS or Khalti) or registration assistant by October 15.

According to the board, the insured family will have to pay additional late fee after the expiry of the period.

Provision of such late fee

  • If the policy is renewed within 3 months of the expiry of the policy, the amount will be added by adding 10 percent of the contribution amount to be made while joining the program.
  • If renewed within 6 months, 30 percent of the contribution amount will be added.
  • If renewed within 6 months to 1 year, 50 percent of the contribution amount will be added.
  • If renewed after one year, 100 percent amount will be added.
  • }Three times the contribution amount if renewed after two years.
  • four times the contribution amount if renewed after three years.
