Kathmandu. The Council of Ministers has relieved Sharad Ojha, the suspended chairman of Nepal Insurance Authority( NEA), from his post at a time when a case is pending in the Supreme Court over a dispute related to eligibility.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on Monday evening dismissed Ojha based on the recommendation of the Judicial Inquiry Committee. The committee submitted its inquiry report to the Ministry of Finance on Thursday and suggested that Ojha be relieved of his post.
The government had formed a three-member judicial inquiry committee on July 27 after a complaint was filed with the CIAA and a writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court alleging that Ojha’s experience and qualifications were not compromised.
The government had appointed Ojha as the chairman of the NRA on February 1, 2017.
