Kathmandu. Meta has blocked 6.8 million WhatsApp accounts.
Meta closed this number of WhatsApp accounts in the first six months of 2025. Meta clarified that these accounts had to be closed because they were operating those involved in fraud and loss cases.
Most of these account holders were found to be associated with fraud networks run by organized criminal gangs, meta said. The company has also revealed that they used their fraudulents by force.
At the same time, Meta has also announced that necessary steps will be taken to stop fraud on WhatsApp. “WhatsApp users will come up with the necessary features to stay vigilant and protect them from fraud,” Meta said.
