Kathmandu. The government has given relief to the citizens who are suffering due to errors in personal details.
The government has published an act to amend some Nepal Acts in the Gazette and has now made provisions to correct the errors in personal details. Amending the National Identity Card and Registration Act, 2076 BS, it has been provided that if the government has to correct the name, surname, age or other details mentioned in the certificate of registration of any individual incident, then the concerned person can apply to the office of the local registrar once in the prescribed format.
Earlier, there was a provision in the Act that the birth registration of children could be corrected within one year. This provision was applicable only to children born after 2076 BS.
Similarly, the words ‘one time’ have been added after the words ‘other details’ in Sub-section (2) by amending the Act. Similarly, the word ‘age’ in Sub-section (4) has been replaced by the word ‘details’.
