Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Office-bearers of Nepal Stock Market Investors Association and Chairman of Securities Board of Nepal Santosh Narayan Shrestha held an in-depth discussion on contemporary issues of the capital market today.
President of the Association. The delegation led by Keshav Shrestha has clearly expressed its views on the current challenges in the capital market and the role to be played by the Securities Board to solve them.
The association has also handed over a formal letter reminding again of the issues submitted to the Securities Board earlier.
During the discussion, Association’s General Secretary Rabin Kandel stressed the need to take the implementation status and strategic questions raised in the meeting with the Board in the past to the level of common investors. In particular, the steps taken by the CDSC and the essential role of the Securities Board in this regard were also discussed in detail. The participating officials stressed the need for the Securities Board to effectively play its role as a regulatory body to make the market dynamic, transparent and accountable.
In response, Chairman of the Securities Board Santosh Narayan Shrestha said that positive cooperation from all stakeholders is essential for the development of the capital market in the future as well as the challenges and risks faced by the Securities Board while working as a regulator.
Acknowledging the need for the investors’ association to play the role of a watchdog, he made it clear that the work could be carried out only within the principles of justice and the legal framework, rather than under pressure or influence.
Shrestha also expressed his commitment to sit for discussion again as per the need after seriously studying the documents submitted by the association and the issues discussed today.
On behalf of the Investors Association, President Dr Keshav Shrestha, Vice-President Engineer Bhagwan Bahadur Rawat, General Secretary Rabin Kandel, Secretary Bhuwan Dhakal, members ShyamHari Sedhai, Mina Bhatta and Bibek Shrestha were present on the occasion.
