Doctors across the country to return certificates to council against consumer courts

Kathmandu. The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) has announced a phase-wise agitation against the consumer court’s decision to hear and decide a case related to medical negligence.

General Secretary of the Association. Sanjeev Tiwari issued a statement announcing a phased agitation from Friday. On the first day on Friday, the Doctors’ Association submitted a memorandum to the District Administration Offices across the country.

On Sunday, it has been announced to hold an hour-long sit-in at the workplace and on Monday, all services except emergency services will be closed in health institutions across the country.

The association has announced a program to collect signatures and medical council certificates from the doctors by Monday and send them to the central office of the association, Kathmandu. Similarly, all the certificates will be submitted to the Medical Council’s certificate council on Tuesday.

Association of Private Medical and Dental Colleges, Afin, Epon, Chemson, Nepal Nursing Association, Nepal Physiotherapy Association, Nepal Veterinary Association, ANVMIA, NPHHO among others have also expressed solidarity with the movement.
