Kathmandu. Tech giant Microsoft is going to cut a large number of employees this year.
Employees will be cut from different units of the company. Employees of the company’s Xbox video gaming unit, in particular, will be affected by the cut, according to international media reports.
The company currently employs 228,000 employees worldwide. Of these, 4% or more than 9,000 employees may lose their jobs.
A company spokesman said that this step is being taken to make Microsoft stronger in the global market. “This change is necessary,” he said.
Microsoft is currently investing heavily in IA. The company plans to build a $80 billion data center for this purpose.
