Kathmandu. The 147-year-old Royal Hotel in Kettering, England, is going to be auctioned. This hotel is going to be sold for only 1 pound (187 rupees). The auction will take place on July 31.

Property developer Nayeem Peyman bought the hotel in 2020 for Rs 41 crore. He has already spent around Rs 710 million on it. Payman also spent around Rs 190 million on its renovation. Despite spending so much money, its work has not been completed. Payman no longer has money.

So Payman is going to auction this hotel for just 1 pound 1d (187 rupees) without any reserve price. However, the condition is that the buyer will have to spend an additional Rs 19 crore to complete the unfinished work of this hotel.

Peyman wanted to make this hotel a great place. He wanted to make it a wedding venue, restaurant, nightclub and cafe. But now he says, “I have run out of money. So my dream is unable to be fulfilled. Property seekers are now getting a chance to buy this Victorian building for just 1 pound. ’

The hotel has 43 rooms. Its history is 147 years old. Celebrities like Queen Victoria and Charles Dickens are also staying here. It will also have a large ballroom, billiard room (which has a glass dome), an old bar and many venues.

Pemon said, “I have tried a lot in the last one year but could not raise the money needed to complete the project. An investor was willing to pay $4 million, but I refused. ’

The hotel was built in 1878 by the Duke of Bakluch in Jacobian style. In 1896, he sold it to Brewers Picking, Phipps and Company. Charles Dickens stayed in the hotel as a reporter for the Morning Chronicle to cover the Northamptonshire election in 1835.

The name of the hotel was changed in 1844. It was renamed the Royal Hotel after Queen Victoria stayed in room no. 12 when she visited Stamford, Lincoln. – Agency
