Lumbini province allocates Rs 100 crore for 200-bed provincial hospital 1 billion

Kathmandu. The Lumbini province government has allocated budget for upgrading the physical infrastructure of the main health institutions of the province through the budget for the upcoming fiscal year to psychosocial counseling programs for mental health.

Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Dhanendra Karki informed that Rs 1 billion has been allocated for the construction of Lumbini Provincial Hospital.

The province government has allocated Rs 50 million to upgrade Rapti Provincial Hospital to 200 beds and Rs 30 million to upgrade Provincial Ayurveda Hospital, Bijari to Specialist Services and Lumbini Ayurveda Hospital Butwal as Specialist Hospital.

Similarly, budget has been allocated for the operation of specialist services and 24-hour emergency services at Bhaluwang Hospital in the state capital and for the construction of buildings of Aghikhanchi Hospital Sandhikharka, Bhim Hospital Bhairahawa and Bardiya Hospital.

Rs 80 million has been allocated for the under-construction Health Office Pyuthan, Rukum East Hospital and Trauma Centre Lamhi. In addition, necessary funds have been arranged for the state-level Infectious Disease Hospital, Kapilvastu.

Mental health priority:

The state government is going to launch a special program in the field of mental health with the slogan “Improving mental health, the basis of healthy life”. The state government has announced to conduct a civic health program, lifestyle change, yoga camp and psychosocial counseling program for the prevention and treatment of increasing mental health problems and suicides. Rs 20 million has been allocated for this purpose.

Rs 150 million for free medical treatment:

In order to make basic and emergency health services accessible and quality, arrangements will be made to supply essential medicines and equipment manpower to the health institutions. Rs 30 million has been allocated for free medicines and Rs 120 million for equipment. A budget has been allocated for the expansion of free eye transplant and kidney dialysis service and the free blood transfusion service has been continued.

The state government has continued the subsidy of Rs 200,000 per person for heart valve transplant, kidney transplant and cancer treatment. Rs 100 million has been allocated for this purpose.

The funds required for the awareness and patient identification of sickle cell anemia, thalassaemia and hemophilia disease have been allocated. Tropical diseases including malaria, dengue, kala-azar, leprosy and tuberculosis, hepatitis and HIV. It has managed resources for timely management of AIDS and effective conduct of hair-based surveillance and testing.

Maternal infant health treatment:

In order to reduce the high maternal and newborn mortality rate, Rs 100 million has been allocated for free pre-natal to post-natal service package and free air rescue service program in remote areas under the Safe Motherhood Campaign.

Rs 80 million has been allocated for conducting nutrition special programmes in Kapilvastu, Banke, Bardiya, Rupandehi and Dang, where nutrition indicators are weaker than the national average.

A budget has been allocated for the operation of digital health information system in the community health program for continuous monitoring of the health and nutrition of women and children. Health camps with specialist and surgical services will be conducted in remote and patient-dominated areas.

Necessary arrangements have been made to bring the State Emergency Operation Center into operation round the clock. Rs 40 million has been allocated for the prevention and prevention of non-communicable diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer and health promotion.

The state government will be in the upcoming fiscal year 2082 BS. Rs 4.95 billion has been allocated for the Ministry of Health.
