24-hour supply of clean and safe drinking water in Kathmandu Valley: Minister Yadav

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Minister for Drinking Water Pradeep Yadav has said that clean and safe drinking water would be provided to the households of Kathmandu Valley 24/7. Inaugurating the drinking water project at Budhanilkantha municipality-4 and formal handing over programme to Kathmandu Upatyaka Khopani Limited here today, Minister Yadav assured that the people of Kathmandu would no longer face shortage of clean, safe and sustainable drinking water during the rainy and winter seasons and melamchi water would be distributed on a daily basis.

“To ensure continuous supply of clean and safe drinking water to the people of Kathmandu, the test work has also been successful by constructing a drinking water tank at Ribarma Khola,” he said. Melamchi water will be continuously distributed in Kathmandu even during the rainy season. ”

Although there have been instances of Melamchi water coming to Kathmandu only in the month of Magh in the past years, he said that after taking charge as the Minister for Drinking Water, he was able to bring water here in the month of September.

Minister Yadav said that the Government of Nepal is fully committed to formulate necessary strategy to provide access to clean and sustainable drinking water services to 57 percent of the people within the next year.

“Ensuring drinking water as a human right and ensuring equal access and quality even in unreachable settlements is our main priority,” he said. Accordingly, we have forwarded our work. ”

Minister Yadav expressed the belief that the project, which has been constructed with the objective of realizing the vision of ‘Clean, Peaceful, Prosperous Tourism City Budhanilkantha’, would not be limited to the supply of drinking water and it would contribute a lot to the development of the entire municipality as it was an important and strategic step.
