Insurance for crops and households to reduce human-wildlife conflict in Koshi Province

Kathmandu. The Koshi state government has provided insurance to houses and crops caused by wildlife attacks to reduce human-wildlife conflict.

The state government will be in the upcoming fiscal year 2082 BS. Funds have been allocated for such insurance through the budget of Rs 83.

“The budget has been allocated for the management of wildlife food and habitat, conservation, relief compensation, crop and household insurance in order to co-exist to reduce human-wildlife conflict,” the budget statement said. ”

The state government has allocated Rs 3.51 billion for expanding access to health services. The state government will be in the upcoming fiscal year 2082 BS. This amount has been allocated only in the budget of Rs 83.

Koshi province tops the list in terms of health infrastructure and access to health services in the remaining six provinces except Bagmati province. Koshi tops among all seven provinces in terms of the percentage of population involved in the health insurance programme. 49 percent of the total population of Koshi is covered under the health insurance program.

According to the Health Insurance Board, only 49.49 per cent or 2,439,425 people have taken health insurance in Koshi Province, which has a total population of 4,961,412. Jhapa district has the highest number of health insurance coverage in the province. Solukhumbu has the lowest.

According to the Health Insurance Board, Jhapa has the highest number of 75 per cent or 738,678 people with health insurance. Similarly, in Solukhumbu, only 12,865 people, or 13 per cent of the total population, have joined the health insurance service.

The state government has made necessary arrangements for the health check-up of pregnant women of the target category and free medical treatment of children below 10 years of age.
