Only about 20% of complaints filed with insurance authority

Kathmandu. A complaint has been filed with the Insurance Authority of Nepal. Despite the increase in the number of complaints, the NRA has cleared only about 20 percent of the complaints received in the 10 months of the current fiscal year.

A total of 488 complaints have been registered till April. Of these, only 96 complaints have been disposed of. This is only 19.67 per cent of the total complaints.

According to the NRA, there are a total of 488 complaints including 287 in the previous fiscal year, 121 in the central office, 77 in the state office and three in the appellate office this year. A total of 437 complaints were filed with the NRA till April last year.

Similarly, out of the total complaints filed till Mid-April of the current fiscal year, the NRA has disposed of a total of 96 complaints with the decision of 67 and consent of 29. Till April last year, 150 complaints had been disposed of.

According to the NRA, 392 complaints are yet to be disposed of. This amounts to 80.33 per cent of the total complaints pending.

Similarly, the central office of the NRA has also brought the judicial bench into operation from June 15. The bench aims to expedite the settlement of complaints related to insurance claims filed with the AUTHORITY.
