Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) Chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha has said that the role of financial sector activities in the economy is important.
Shrestha said this while inaugurating a training programme on ‘Technology, Good Governance and Compliance for Capital Market Strengthening’ jointly organized by Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) and Stock Brokers Association of Nepal here today. Shrestha said that the state would give special importance to the regulation and supervision of financial markets as financial sector activities play an important role in the economy. “Various regulatory arrangements have also been made regarding the stock market,” he said, adding that such programmes should be continued to regulate and supervise the market participants as well as to enhance their capacity. ’
Chairman of the program and CHIEF Executive Officer of NEPSE Chudamani Chapagain said that technology, good governance and compliance are the most important issues of the capital market at present. “I hope that all the transaction members will benefit from this program,” he said, adding, “It will help in providing easy, safe and reliable transaction services to the investors.” ’
Sagar Dhakal, president of stock brokers association of Nepal, a co-organizing organization, talked about the positive changes seen in the recent past by the capital market regulatory body SEBON and NEPSE. He stressed the need for all concerned bodies to move ahead with the same view for strengthening the capital market.
Director of Nepal Rastra Bank Dr. Hari Kumar Nepal presented a working paper on prevention of money laundering in the securities market and control of investment in terrorist activities. Cdsc Deputy Manager Yograj Joshi presented a working paper on transactions, Nepse’s Assistant IT Manager Nisha Timilsina presented nuts operation, NEPSE Assistant IT Manager Niranjan Singh Nayak presented TMS operation, NEPSE Assistant Manager Giriraj Dahal presented legal provisions related to second market and NEPSE’s Acting Deputy CEO Niranjan Phuyal presented a working paper on overall second market transactions.
Nepse Manager Liladhar Subedi delivered the welcome speech while Senior Officer Santosh Acharya conducted the program. Chief Executive Officers of 92 trading members (brokers and dealers) of NEPSE and employees associated with information technology participated in the program.
