Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Governor Bishwanath Poudel has taken oath of office and secrecy.
Newly appointed Governor Poudel administered the oath of office to Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut. Poudel will take charge of The Rastra Bank today.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Baluwatar on Tuesday decided to appoint Poudel as the governor of the central bank. The governor’s post was lying vacant after Maha Prasad Adhikari took compulsory retirement on April 14.
Poudel will now serve as governor for five years. Poudel, who holds a PhD in economics from the US, has served as economic adviser at the Ministry of Finance, vice-chairman of the National Planning Commission and economic advisor to the International Labour Organization (ILO).
