Kathmandu. Api Power Company Limited, a company focused on renewable energy generation including hydropower and solar energy, is constructing the fourth solar energy project in Madhes province.
An 8 MW Solar Power Project is under construction at Bhaluhi near 11 KVA substation of Nepal Electricity Authority at Parwanipur in Bara with the investment of Api Power Company. The company has taken 12 bighas of land on lease for the project. The project is being constructed at a cost of Rs 480 million.
The project site is located 11 kilometers south of Simara Airport.
Executive Director of Api Power, Sanjeev Nyapan, said that the target is to complete the construction work within four months and connect it to the national transmission line within six months. According to him, barren and uncultivable land has been allotted during the project construction site.
Api Power has already signed a power purchase agreement with The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the project. Already, the 1 MW Sairya power project of Simara, built with the investment of Api Power, has been in operation for two years. The energy generated from the project is connected to the national transmission line through an 11 KVA substation at Parwanipur.
According to Executive Director Nyapane, parwanipur area has been selected for the Sarya project to address the problem of irregularities in the voltage flow of electricity in the industrial area.
Api Power Company had constructed the 1 MW Simara Sairya project at Simara with an investment of Rs 85 million. Similarly, a 1 MW solar power project at Dhalkewar in Dhanusha and a 4 MW solar power project at Chandranigahapur in Rautahat is under operation. All these three projects are projects near the East-West Mahendra Highway in Madhes province.
Under Api Power Company, 8.5 MW Naigad Gadaf is generating a total of 62.5 MW renewable energy in the far west, including 8 MW Upper Nagad Gad and 40 MW Upper Chamelia Hydropower Project and Sarya Power Project.
The company has a paid-up capital of Rs 6.07 billion in the current fiscal year. In the third quarter of 2017-19, the company earned a profit of Rs 353.4 million.
