Kathmandu. Buddha Air has announced that it will resume flights to Kolkata in India amid intense competition among private air service providers in the domestic market. It is preparing to fly to Kolkata, the historical and industrial and transit point of neighboring India.

Buddha Air is going to fly on its fleet’s ATR 72 500 model aircraft. Buddha is currently flying twice a week to Banarash, a religious and historical city of India, twice a week.

Crest

Passengers of Buddha Air have suggested regional flights through Airbus after announcing the launch of air services to Kolkata through social networking site Facebook. They have demanded to bring Airbus A320 or 737 model aircraft.

Buddha Air has also studied to start air services at Pyokiang airport in northern India, but it has not yet started services on this route. Buddha Air is the only private sector air service provider to operate flights on both national and regional routes.

Buddha Air started air service on The Kolkata route in Kathmandu six years ago, but had to stop the service due to lack of adequate business. On May 27, 2019, Buddha Air flew on the Kathmandu-Kolkata route and charged a two-way airfare of Rs. 10,000 per person. It was fixed at Rs 22,000. It is estimated that the fare rate may be more expensive due to the increase in the cost of aviation fuel, management expenses, airport fees, etc. in the last six years.
