Kathmandu. More than Rs 150 billion concessional loans have been sanctioned by the banks till Mid-February of the current fiscal year.
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has approved concessional loans worth Rs 159.39 billion from banks and financial institutions under various heads. The government has provided interest subvention of Rs 28.49 billion for concessional loans till Mid-March.
Most of the concessional loans have been approved in commercial agriculture and livestock sectors. A concessional loan of Rs 91.54 billion has been approved under this head. Of this, loans worth Rs 89.69 billion have been approved, including Rs 2.47 billion without collateral. The number of borrowers under this head is 39,997.
Similarly, the second highest concessional loan has been approved in the top of women entrepreneurs. Under this head, a concessional loan of Rs 65.69 billion has been approved for 64,119 borrowers from the banks.
The third most concessional loan is approved area for the operation of the textile industry. A loan of Rs 1.06 billion has been approved by the banks under this head.
According to the NRB, rs 96.62 billion is yet to be approved.
