Kathmandu. The highest amount of claims have been made for property insurance in the damage caused by the riots caused by the royalist demonstrations in Tinkune, Koteshwor and other areas of Kathmandu on Chaitra 15.
This is seen from the data on claims received in non-life insurance as of Chaitra 20 made public by the Nepal Insurance Authority. So far, 16 claims have been made for property insurance in 11 non-life insurance companies. It is seen that the companies have to pay 31 million 1166 thousand 213 rupees for those claims.
Similarly, the second highest number of claims has been made for motor insurance (private). Companies have received 22 claims for motor insurance. The companies have to pay Rs 12.967 crore for those claims.
So far, the companies have paid Rs 43,882 for two claims under motor insurance.
According to the authority, so far, three companies have to pay Rs 3.7 million for engineering and contractor risk for damage caused by the riots.
Similarly, two companies have to pay Rs 1 million for miscellaneous insurance. It is estimated that Rs 1 million 1,130 will be paid for those claims. On the other hand, the company has already paid Rs 1,130 for one claim.
The insurance authorities had instructed companies engaged in non-life business to pay insurance claims for losses caused by riots in a quick and efficient manner. As per the instructions, the companies have started moving forward with the claim payment process and sending its details to the authority.
As of Chaitra 20, 43 claims have been filed against companies for losses caused by riots. It is seen that the companies have to pay Rs 48,768,020 for those claims. So far, the companies have paid Rs 45,120 for 3 claims.
