18 bodies found in Dhading bus accident, 24 rescued

Kathmandu. At least 18 people were killed when a passenger bus met with an accident in Dhading district of Dhading district on Sunday morning. The security personnel have rescued 24 injured.

The accident took place when a passenger bus (Ga 1 Kha 1421) veered off the road at Benighat Rorang rural municipality-5 in Dhading district and plunged into the Trishuli River at around 1.30 am on Sunday.

According to APF central spokesperson Bishnu Prasad Bhatta, 18 bodies have been recovered from the incident site so far. A total of 24 people injured in the accident were rescued and sent to different hospitals for treatment, police said.

The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be ascertained and the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained.

Teams from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have been mobilised for rescue operation.

A team of divers from the Disaster Management Training School, Kurintar, is continuing the search and rescue operation for other passengers who may have gone missing in the river.
