Kathmandu. A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Bishwanath Poudel as the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank( NRB).
Advocates Ananta Raj Luitel, Pratibha Upreti and Bishal Thapa jointly filed the writ petition seeking cancellation of Poudel’s appointment as governor. They have filed a writ petition against the Governor’s Appointment Recommendation Committee and the government for appointing Poudel in violation of the Rastra Bank Act.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on May 29 had decided to appoint Poudel as governor. Earlier, the Supreme Court had filed a writ petition stating that Poudel was ineligible to become governor. A single bench of Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla had upheld the writ petition on May 15.
After that, It was revealed that Poudel would become the governor’s way.
