Kathmandu. Us President Donald Trump’s tariffs have put Los Angeles’s toy market in jeopardy.
The US has imposed tariffs of up to 145 percent on most goods imported from China. 80 percent of toys in the US market, including Lodge Angeles, are imported from China.
Los Angeles-based Kips Toyland has been selling children’s toys in Los Angeles for the past 80 years. Trump’s tariffs have created a crisis as he has been trading toys without being distracted by wars, recessions and epidemics, Toyland said.
Toyland’s Don Kipper says toy suppliers are now sending letters and calls. “Tariffs can push up prices of goods, so they are asking them to order quickly,” Kipper said.
Toys worth $13.4 billion were imported from China last year, according to the US Trade Department. “I don’t think about what to do,” Kipper said, “this small business of mine cannot afford the price rise.” I can’t even store many toys at once. – Agency
