Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump on Friday warned that those who vandalize Tesla cars could face up to 20 years in prison.
Trump made the warning in a post on his official social media handle Truth. For the past few days, Tesla cars have been targeted in the US in protest against Elon Musk. Photos of which are constantly emerging. Trump wrote, ‘Those caught vandalizing Tesla cars could face up to 20 years in prison and we are looking for them!’
Trump’s statement came after US Attorney General Pam Bondi called the recent attacks on Tesla cars ‘nothing less than domestic terrorism’. He warned that those involved in such attacks will face serious consequences. He also pledged to investigate the matter seriously.
The US government is also preparing to take action against those who vandalize Tesla cars and those who financially support them. In a statement, Bondi said, “The individuals who carried out violent attacks on Tesla property are no less than domestic terrorists. The Department of Justice has already identified and charged several perpetrators. These charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years in prison. We will continue to investigate, which will ensure that those involved in these attacks face serious consequences, including those who supported and financed these crimes behind the scenes.”
Tesla cars are constantly under attack in the US. Five Tesla cars were badly burned in a fire at the Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas on Tuesday morning. According to a report by ABC News, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the incident was caused by such incidents against the electric vehicle company. Tesla CEO Musk condemned the attack as “terrorism” and criticized the left for promoting “violence” and “hate.”
Trump recently expressed his support for Musk by purchasing a new electric car from Tesla. Trump bought a red Tesla Model S car in the presence of the media. During the event, he said, “This car is very beautiful.”
