Kathmandu. Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has banned the wearing of khadi, garlands and identity-proof dresses.
Issuing a notice today, the Airport Immigration Office said that the use of these materials has been banned as the immigration area of the airport is sensitive and protective. This rule will apply to all passengers, travel agencies and manpower companies.
No khadi, garland or other accessories of the same nature will be allowed to be used while staying in the immigration area or desk or counter or participating in the immigration process. These items have been banned because of the potential risk and unnecessary delay in the work of immigration administration, the notice said.
Similarly, the use of clothing, caps, batches or any other identity products reflecting the identity or affiliation of a particular group, organization, travel agency or manpower company has also been completely banned. According to the office, this rule has been implemented to ensure equal treatment to all as such dresses may make a passenger feel specially treated or raise questions about security sensitivity.
The office has urged them to help ease the immigration process by following these rules. The office has warned that action will be taken as per law if found violating the rules.
