Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The government has announced five main programmes related to insurance in the policy and programme announced for the upcoming fiscal year 2081/82 BS. President Ram Chandra Poudel presented the policies and programmes at the joint sitting of the federal parliament on Friday.

1. A policy has been taken to increase the scope of agricultural insurance. The government has included a strategy to increase the scope of agricultural insurance in the policy and program of the upcoming fiscal year.
2. A policy has been taken to implement the Insurance Information Center. Priority has been given to the implementation of insurance information center. The government has a policy to set up information centers to make insurance services accessible and reliable.
3. The government has a policy to promote physical property insurance.
4. The government also has a plan to run an insurance literacy program to include rural and poor people in insurance.
5. The government has given priority to the health insurance program. “The health insurance programme will be restructured and made sustainable,” President Ram Chandra Poudel said while presenting the policies and programmes in the parliament. The government plans to include everyone in the health insurance program to provide access to health services to all.
6) ##inline_tags_PLACEHOLDER_3#Basic and essential medicines provided by the government will be added to the insurance system to reduce the expenditure on the #बीमा system. All scattered health services will be linked to the health insurance system. The services of all health services and treatment institutions, including the Social Security Fund, Employees Provident Fund, will be made effective to address the resource shortage by integrating all the scattered health services.
Apart from this, the government has also included in the policies and programs for the effectiveness of social security and health insurance programs.
1) Coordination of funds’ social security programmes: ##inline_tags_PLACEHOLDER_4#
The government will further strengthen the concept of integrated social security and coordinate the social security programs run among the employees provident fund, citizen investment fund, social security fund and other agencies. A social security fund strengthening strategy will be implemented.
2) Mandatory to join the fund for all workers:
The role and scope of the fund will be expanded so that those engaged in employment in all nature, any service profession, are compulsorily included in the contribution-based social security fund. While renewing companies, institutions, cooperatives, firms or other organized organizations, arrangements will be made to include the workers in the Social Security Fund and attach proof of regular contribution.

Citizen’s app will be improved by connecting all government hospitals with the same online service. Production of basic and essential medicines will be promoted. An integrated act related to medicines and health will be formulated.
4) Respect for Labour:
A tradition of respecting labor will be established by developing a culture of labor. A working hour-based wage system will also be implemented to engage interns in start-ups. Contribution-based social security will be made mandatory.
