Kathmandu. Chandra Bahadur Thapa has been appointed as the chairman of the Health Insurance Board.
The Ministry of Health and Population has appointed Thapa as the chairman of the Insurance Board. ‘Thapa was appointed as the chairman on Monday through a ministerial decision,’ said ministry spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budhathoki.
The Insurance Board was left without a chairman after Dr. Gunaraj Lohani resigned on Kartik 26. With Thapa’s appointment, the Insurance Board has got a new chairman. Chairman Thapa was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Minister Pradeep Poudel on Tuesday.
Thapa was also a member of the Health Insurance Board earlier. Thapa from Pyuthan has a master’s degree.
Before that, the post of Executive Director in the Health Insurance Board was vacant after the term of Dr. Damodar Basaula ended on Kartik 25. In the last week of last Falgun, the government had appointed Dr. Raghuraj Kafle as the Executive Director through open competition.
