Kathmandu. Elon Musk’s Tesla has banned new orders for electric cars in China.
Tesla has banned new orders for the Model S and Model X in China. Tesla cars were supplied to China through the Chinese website WeChat Mini Program.
After Tesla’s ban, orders for these two models of cars have now been removed from the Chinese website. President Donald Trump’s tariffs have triggered a trade war between the two major economies.
Both these models of Tesla were manufactured in the US and exported to China. Now both these models have been removed from the Chinese website.
Tesla has not yet made public its official position on the ban on electric car exports to China. The company did not disclose the reason for taking this step.
After Trump raised tariffs on Chinese goods to 145 per cent, China also imposed a 125 per cent tariff on goods coming from the US. China has seen that this tariff can be more expensive for customers due to Tesla. – Agency
