Sushila Karki sends 15 messages to the nation after assuming office as PM

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Sushila Karki has assumed office as the Prime Minister of Nepal today. She was sworn in as the Prime Minister yesterday.

President Ram Chandra Poudel appointed Karki as the Prime Minister of the interim government after the agitation of Jenji on September 23 and 24. Karki then recommended the dissolution of parliament to the President.

The names of the probable ministers to be included in Prime Minister Karki’s cabinet are being discussed. Prime Minister Karki’s message to the nation after assuming office is as follows:

1. I want to hold elections within 6 months. Please help me.

2. The country and people are in a difficult situation. We will think about what can be done.

3. Security agencies, police units, Singha Durbar, Ministry, Supreme Court, District Court, High Court and other government properties were also burnt in the fire. It’s a shame to see this. If you have done this work as a Nepali, how can you say Nepali?

4. Our records, evidence and Supreme Court files were all destroyed. Damage to physical buildings can be repaired. However, those records and details were completely destroyed and we ended up in a state of zero.

5. Protesters and security personnel were also killed. All the police offices have to buy another vehicle. Let’s build a police office, even if it’s a makeshift one.

6. The arson and vandalism seem to have been premeditated. The investigation is pending.

7. Action will be taken against those involved in acts of vandalism and arson.

8. Acts of vandalism, arson and murder by criminals are a challenge to us. It’s a challenge against the country. Therefore, let’s all face it together in a spirit of unity.

9. This transformation of the 27-hour movement is for the end of corruption, good governance and economic equality that is not the case in any other country.

10. We will also evaluate the damages and prepare a future action plan.

11. On September 23, I signed a resolution declaring those who died as martyrs. We decided to give Rs 10 lakh to the system.

12. We have also provided treatment and relief to the injured. There is a provision for treatment after disability.

13. The government will take care of the expenses of the family members of the deceased.

14. Arrangements will be made to transport the bodies to their local addresses.

15. We think about how to rescue the businessmen who are unable to recover from the vandalism and arson that took place during the agitation. How will we do it by giving soft loans to the bank?
