Sumedh Air added among a dozen helicopter companies

Kathmandu. A dozen helicopter service providers are operating in the domestic aviation market, while another company has inaugurated its office.

Niraj Govinda Shrestha, a non-resident Nepali, has opened the central office of Sumedh Air at Durbarmarg.

The airline has obtained a four-year flight permit from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) with effect from July 1, 2029.

In the first phase, Sumedh Air has been given permission to fly through three helicopters of A125 (H125) model. Its main flight base station will be at civil aviation authority’s helipad at Nalinchowk in Bhaktapur.

Currently, there are 12 licensed helicopter companies. These companies have a total of 40 helicopters ranging from one to four.

Helicopter flight service company has been providing services for emergency rescue of mountain climbers, emergency rescue of patients, transportation of necessary ration water for trekking and tourism, transportation of VIPs, rescue of critical patients from remote areas and transportation of goods.
