Kathmandu. NATO member countries have discovered large oil reserves. The reserve can produce 1,000 barrels of oil every day. This is considered to be a big discovery for Europe.
So far, European countries are dependent on the rest of the continent for oil and gas. In the past, most European countries imported large quantities of gas and oil from Russia. However, its volume has decreased since the war in Ukraine.
Hungarian oil and gas company MOL said in a statement that the field was discovered at a depth of 2,400 meters near the city of Galgaheviz in northern Hungary. This new reserve will make an important contribution to Hungary’s supply security. This is because domestic production reduces dependence on imports. ’
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó has said earlier that Ukraine’s attack on the Druzhba pipeline carrying Russian oil to Hungary is tantamount to an attack on his country. Zelenskyy made it clear that Ukraine would continue to attack the Druzhba pipeline if Hungary did not take a stand in favor of Ukraine. This is very important for Hungary’s energy security. ’
Hungary continues to buy oil from Russia despite being a NATO member. Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó has said that Hungary will openly buy Russian oil because there is no alternative. He also claimed that some other European countries were secretly importing Russian oil at cheaper prices through intermediaries.
In addition to Hungary, Slovakia is also buying oil and gas from Russia.
