Private sector to be attracted to invest in sports infrastructure development

Kathmandu. The government has announced to attract the private sector to invest in sports infrastructure development.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, while presenting the budget and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year in the federal parliament, said the private sector would be attracted to invest in sports infrastructure. He also announced that investment would be increased for the construction of sports infrastructure and professional development of players.

In recent times, there has been an increasing trend of organizing international tournaments and professional league tournaments, especially of cricket and football games, in Nepal.

Similarly, the private sector has constructed international level cricket grounds in Dhangadhi and other areas with its own investment.

Meanwhile, the government is in the upcoming fiscal year 2082. A budget of Rs 6.08 billion has been allocated for the sports sector.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s constituency Damak in Jhapa district has announced the construction of a modern stadium of international standard. Similarly, high altitude sports stadiums will be constructed in solukhumbu, Mustang and other mountainous areas, said Finance Minister Poudel.
