Kathmandu. Kulman Ghising, who was removed from the post of Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority, has said that the Nepali people will definitely demand an answer for his removal from the post.
Former Executive Director Ghising made this statement while addressing a press conference in Kathmandu on Friday. ‘Despite working day and night in the service of the country and the people with integrity, the government dismissed me,’ he said, ‘My attempt to collect electricity dues was the main reason for my removal from the post. Is my attempt to collect the dues of a public institution a crime against the state? Therefore, history and the Nepali people will definitely demand an answer for my removal from the post.’
Ghising said that the government removed him the day he wrote a letter to collect the dues of trunk and dedicated lines of industries. ‘The entire power of the state was used against me to discourage me. In whose interest was the entire power of the state used against me, the people have seen.’
Ghising said that he had rejected the pressure and influence that came to him not to raise the arrears. ‘I could not harm the institution and the nation. Even while working according to the law, I had to endure a lot of pressure and influence,’ he said.
At the press conference, Ghising also released information about the work done during his tenure. ‘A country rich in water resources, load shedding for 15-16 hours in winter and 9 hours in the monsoon was a common thing until about 8 years ago. Along with the campaign to end load shedding forever and make Nepal brighter, load shedding was ended not only for homes and offices but also for industrial customers from April 2075.
Ghising said that the end of load shedding was a sincere effort. “This is not a miracle, it is a sincere effort,” he said.
