Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank is going to print 230 million new notes of Rs. 500 denomination.
The central bank has invited international bids to print new notes of Rs. 500 denomination. Issuing a notice today, the Rastra Bank has informed that the new notes of Rs. 500 denomination are going to be printed.
The Rastra Bank has invited suppliers interested in printing the new notes to submit confidential sealed bids. Interested suppliers can submit bids during office hours until May 3.
The National Bank has stated that the bid fee will be 20,000 rupees or 144 US dollars, 133 euros or 112 pounds sterling.
The National Bank has already selected 6 foreign companies under prequalification to print banknotes. The foreign companies that have been selected are China Banknote Printing and Minting Corporation of China, De La Rue International of the UK, Geisske Deviant Currency Technology of Germany, Joint Stock Company ‘Goznak’ of Russia, Oberthur Fiduciaire SAS of France and Policy Security Printing Works of Poland.
The six companies that have been prequalified can submit bids to the National Bank to print banknotes. Out of these, the National Bank will award the contract to print banknotes to the company that submits a proposal to print banknotes at the lowest cost.
