Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Most of the schools in the Kathmandu Valley have decided to shut down their classes after the pro-people’s student union, Nepal announced an academic strike on Monday.
Most schools have sent a notice to parents before midnight on Sunday due to the possibility of tension and untoward incidents.
“Respected Parents, due to the possibility of difficulties in conducting classes due to the call of closure of educational institutions by the student union, it is informed that the school will be closed on Monday, Poush 07, 2082. “
The Union has announced the strike in order to pile pressure on the government to fulfill their demands including ensuring voting rights for Nepali students, workers and Nepali citizens living abroad from this election and reducing tuition fees of private schools.
