The Global Peace Index-2025 shows that the world is becoming less peaceful than ever before and the decline in peace is at its highest level since World War II. In such a situation, the list of 10 safest and 10 most unsafe countries in the world has been made public.
The Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) releases the Global Peace Index every year. Which shows how safe our world is.
The results of the 2025 study reveal the world’s safest and most unsafe countries. At the top of the list of safe countries are those countries with flexible institutions, less corruption, and better-functioning infrastructure. As a result, these countries are ideal destinations to travel.
The safest 10 countries
Iceland retains its top position in the list of the world’s safest countries. Significantly, it has maintained its hold on this place since 2008.
Interestingly, only eight of the world’s 10 safest countries are from Europe. In addition, only one country in Asia with the world’s largest land mass is on this list. Ireland is second and New Zealand is third in the list of top 10 safe countries. Austria and Switzerland are ranked fourth and fifth respectively.
Singapore, the only Asian country in the top 10, is ranked sixth. It is followed by Portugal (7th), Denmark (8th), Slovenia (9th) and Finland (10th).
10 most vulnerable countries in the world
Russia is at the bottom of the List of 163 countries in the World Peace Index. As a result, it has become the most unsafe country in the world. Then there is Ukraine.
Sudan ranks third and The Democratic Republic of The Congo fourth in the list of most vulnerable countries. Yemen is the fifth worst victim of violence in the Middle East.
Among the most vulnerable countries, Afghanistan ranks sixth, while Syria, South Sudan, Israel and Mali are ranked seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.
