Kathmandu. The total insurance cover of broadcasters, OTT platforms and franchises of India’s popular cricket tournament Indian Premier League (IPL) has dropped significantly this year.

The total insurance cover of the previous IPL was Rs 10,000 crore. In this, the total insurance of the broadcaster, organizer, franchise and sponsor was rs 6,000 crore. In this, the broadcasters took insurance of Rs 3500 crore for their TV revenue, while the rest of the insurance cover has been taken by others.

This year’s IPL started on March 22. The IPL will conclude on March 25.

According to experts, the insurance amount of this year’s IPL has decreased by about Rs 1500 crore compared to the previous year. However, some franchises or broadcasters can also take insurance cover while the game is going on.

Amit Agarwal, CEO of Howden India, said that this year’s IPL insurance cover will be reduced. “Because some big broadcasting units have been merged and acquired,” Agarwal said, adding, “On the other hand, there has been a huge increase in the premium of the franchise. ’
