Insurance worth Rs 5 billion for 5-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Maharashtra

Kathmandu. The organization has insured about 5 billion Indian rupees (8 billion rupees) for the Ganesh Rath Yatra to be celebrated as a festival in Maharashtra, India.

GSB Seva Mandal, also known as Ganesh Mandal, has provided risk insurance worth Rs 4.74 billion. Last year, insurance worth Rs 4 billion was provided.

Five days later, the festival will begin on August 27 in King’s Circle, Sien, and will continue for five days. On the occasion of the festival, 69 kg gold, 336 kg silver and other precious ornaments along with Ganesh idols will be decorated, according to a press release issued by GSB Seva Mandal President Amit Pai.

GSB Seva Mandal, which has been running this Ganesh Festival continuously for the last 61 years, is considered to be the richest religious congregation in India.

The insurance risk includes Rs 67.03 crore for gold, silver and other ornaments, Rs 3.75 billion for volunteers, priests, cooks, footwear collection centre workers, parking lots and security guards, and Rs 300 million for public liability.

Apart from this, the insurance policy also covers the risk of fire and other reasons to furniture, digital property and other property.

Pai said that every year, GSB Seva Mandal is also helping children from poor and underprivileged families to get education.
