Kathmandu. It has been revealed that crores of rupees of insurance have been siphoned off on the pretext of car theft in Rajasthan, India.
The incident came to light after barmer police arrested a member of a gang that managed to grab crores of rupees on the pretext of stealing vehicles. Sp Narendra Singh Meena said that the mastermind of the gang, Sata Ram, has been arrested. He was arrested by the police while he was trying to flee abroad.
According to preliminary information, the Sata Ram-led group had received payments of Rs 200 million (Rs 32 crore) from insurance companies through 12 fake claims of vehicle theft.
According to AP Meena, the kingpin of this gang, Sata Ram, used to buy expensive trucks and trailers in his or his friends’ name. After that, he used to file false complaints of vehicle theft in various police stations of Rajasthan like Gudmalani, Baitu, Pachpadara, Jasol, Sindhari, Asop, Sendada and Jaitan.
On the basis of this false theft recommendation, Sata Ram used to collect insurance claim money from insurance companies. Police investigation revealed that the stolen vehicles were registered from Arunachal Pradesh. According to the police, they have earned double the profit by renting these vehicles to oil companies.
According to the police, Sata Ram found that some of the stolen vehicles were not registered. According to the police, he had claimed insurance money by making fake documents of such vehicles.
Police have so far seized three vehicles of Sata Ram. A complaint of theft was registered. The police have also informed the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate (ED) about this. So that the ED investigates the ill-gotten wealth of Sata Ram.
