Rakesh Kishor took off his shoes and threw a shoe at the Chief Justice of India (CJ) at 11:35 am on Tuesday. The judge didn’t even hit the shoe. However, he was immediately taken into custody by the police.

The Bar Council of India is the governing body of Indian legal practitioners.

Undeterred by the shocking developments in the court, Chief Justice Gavai said, “I am the last person to be affected by such things.”

According to eyewitnesses, when the Chief Justice began hearing the first case of the day, the old man shouted slogans saying “India will not tolerate the insult to Sanatan” and threw a shoe at the bench.

Court guards moved quickly and detained the man who threw the shoe. The shoe that hit the Chief Justice did not hit the target.

The person who threw the shoe was carrying a proximity card to be provided to the lawyers and staff of the Supreme Court.

His intention to target the Chief Justice is not clear. The Chief Justice is said to have asked the Registrar of the Court not to take any action against him.
