Kathmandu. A man’s attempt to kill his wife to get Rs 75 crore insurance cover in India has failed.
Mukesh Mehta’s attempt to kill his wife in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh has failed. The murder accused Mehta was taken into custody by the police on Sunday.
According to the police, a woman was killed in a road accident on October 9 at Hathiya Mod near the village. On that day, Mehta had pretended to lie unconscious near the woman’s body.
Police investigation revealed that Mehta had strangled his wife to death. Mehta has confessed to the crime in his statement to the police.
Mehta had recently insured his wife for Rs 75 crore. He said that he tried to show that he killed his wife and caused an accident to get the same insurance money.
Mehta has been remanded in custody and further investigation is underway, police said.
