Kathmandu. The non-life insurance companies have to pay around Rs 4.18 billion for a total of 790 insurance claims due to incessant rains and landslides since October 3. According to the latest data of the Insurance Authority, the companies have so far paid only Rs 11.15 crore to the insured out of a total of 96 claims.
As per the data, 13 non-life insurance companies and two micro non-life insurance companies have to pay around Rs 3.58 billion for 417 initial claims towards property insurance. Out of this, a total of 33 insurance claims companies have paid around Rs 9.64 crore so far.
Similarly, so far, the companies have paid about Rs 9 lakh for 7 claims against 107 claims under engineering and contract risk insurance.
Similarly, the companies have paid around Rs 4.14 crore for 210 claims under agriculture and crop insurance, about Rs 1.9 million for 42 claims, about Rs 1.2 crore for 12 claims out of 40 claims for motor insurance (private) claims, and Rs 300,000 for two claims out of Rs 1.1 million for four claims under marine insurance.
On the other hand, the company has not yet started payment of Rs 1.19 crore for 10 claims under motor insurance (public) and Rs 1.2 million for two claims under micro insurance.
