Kathmandu. Hundreds of people have been duped of crores of rupees in the name of insurance policies in neighboring India.

New Delhi: Delhi’s Ghaziabad Police has busted a gang that duped 1,500 people of Rs 4.5 crore (Rs 7.2 0 crore) across the country in the name of insurance policies. Police have arrested seven members of the gang.

Police have seized 56 fake insurance policies, 198 mobile phones, 300 SIM cards, 26 laptops and other electronic devices. Members of this gang used to contact people through call centers and identify them as representatives of insurance companies and collect money in the name of bossan, maturity and benefits of the old insurance police. According to the police, they have so far lured around 1,500 people to the tune of crores of rupees.

The arrestees have been identified as Rahul Nagar, Ashish Kumar, Anmol Chaudhary, Gulshan, Rahul, Suraj and Deepak. They were involved in making fake insurance policies and transferring money to bank accounts.

Police investigation has revealed that the gang has been running this fraud for the last two years. A case has been registered against them and further investigation is underway.

The police are trying to attach the details of the victims of this gang and are searching for other people who are absconding. – Agency
