Heavy rain begins in Koshi River as rain subsides in Madhes and Bagmati

Kathmandu. The rain that was seen in Madhes and Bagmati provinces throughout the day on Saturday has shifted to Koshi Province on Sunday.

The impact of rainfall in Bara and Parsa districts of Madhes province has subsided since Sunday morning.

The intensity of rainfall is gradually decreasing in Bagmati Province and Madhes Province while moderate to heavy rainfall is taking place in many places of Koshi Province. This trend is likely to continue for the next few hours.

According to the Water and Weather Forecasting Division, according to the real-time water level received from various rivers of the country, the water level in 8 river centers is currently above the danger level. Bagmati, Sunkoshi, Arun, Tamor, Kankai, Budhi Khola-Sunsari, Biring Khola, Jhapa and other rivers have flood measurement stations.

In 12 river stations, the water level is above the warning level and most of them are rising, including the flood gauge stations in Bagmati, Kamala and Koshi watersheds.

Similarly, the water level in all other rivers and streams of Koshi, Madhes and Bagmati provinces is near the warning level.

There is a high risk of flooding in the rivers till Sunday evening and a moderate risk will remain till Monday morning.
